1-Step Homemade Shaving Cream

This easy, all natural, DIY shaving cream whips up in minutes and is the best shaving cream I've ever used!
Total Time 3 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shea butter
  • 1 cup virgin coconut oil mine was solid at the time of mixing
  • Optional: essential oils or other natural scents I used 50 drops lavender and 30 drops of lemon*
  • * Note: I initially used the zest of 1 large lemon in place of lemon oil but the scent of the zest intensified over time and was a little strong for my liking.

Instructions

  • Using an electric mixer, beat all ingredients until stiff peaks form (approximately 2-3 minutes).

Notes

Tips for Making and Using Homemade Shaving Cream

  • To clean your mixer and bowl after making the shaving cream, wipe as much of the mixture off as you can with paper towels before washing with soap and water.
  • This makes a large batch (2-3 cups) - I prefer to store it in a large glass jar, then transfer a smaller amount to a plastic container with a lid that I can leave in the shower.
  • The mixture will lose a bit of volume over time, but will remain soft and foamy.
  • If you use too much, this WILL leave an oily residue in your tub/shower. I use a small amount and sometimes even turn the shower off before shaving so most of it stays on my skin rather than getting rinsed off into the tub and down the drain.
